Days of the Week

Days of the Week

Origins, meanings, planetary rulership, and how to work with the days of the week.

A quick guide to referencing the days of the week, the planets / deities they are ruled by, and how to work with them best on a personal level.

The "work" days

Monday

Moon-Day: Mondays belong to the Moon. The reason there are so many collective memes about Mondays being a challenge is because Mondays are ruled by the Moon. The moon is the body. We are not supposed to work on Mondays! We are supposed to do body-stuff. Relax, take a bath, get a massage.

Tuesday

Tuesdays are ruled by Mars. Mardi / Martes in French and Spanish respectively. The English form of the word comes from the Old English Tīwesdæg ‘day of Tīw’, a Germanic god of war and the sky, similar to Mars. A day for initiation, action, being loud, taking charge of situations, no patience. A great day for the start of the week. Tuesdays tend to be my busiest days where I get the most things done.

Wednesday

Wednesdays are ruled by Mercury. Mercredi / Miercoles in French and Spanish respectively. The English form of the word comes from Odin / Woden the Norse god associated with Mercury.

Great day for communications, publishing, writing, editing, sending emails, getting answers, planning travel.

Thursday

Thor's Day; ruled by Jupiter, the equivalent of the Norse Thor, leader of the gods in the Roman / Greek pantheon. Jeudi / Jueves in French and Spanish.

A day for expansion, community, parties, socializing, holding court, travel, mood boarding, getting paid, destination planning.

The "weekend"

Friday

Freya's Day; Ruled by Venus. Vendredi / Viernes in French and Spanish.

The best day for dates (either with others or yourself), creative endeavors and pursuits, museum visits, flowers, working in the garden, movies - anything that engages your sense of beauty, art, and creativity.

Saturday

Saturn's Day; Ruled by Saturn. Samedi / Sabado in French and Spanish. Saturn the serious, titan who was overthrown. Saturn the severe.

A good day for community work, volunteering, building things, finance date, systems build, sorting the basement.

Sunday

Sun-Day! Fun-Day! Ruled by the Sun, the center of our system, the reason for our existence on earth. Originally the first day of the week, which is why so many calendars default to Sundays as the beginning.

Good day to socialize, chill, hang out, work, have fun, frolic, do what feeds you.

Knowing these energies you are able to plan a really unique lifestyle for yourself, especially if you are an entrepreneur and can run a whole business this way.

More coming on how to work with these days in business!
